Frequently asked questions

What equipment is needed?

A computer and an internet connection. Nothing to install beforehand โ€” Python and VS Code are set up together with the mentor in Session 3, so students work in the same editor a professional would use.

Is there homework?

Yes, around 30 minutes a week. The course builds on itself, so each session assumes the last one was completed.

Why Python and not something else?

Python reads close to English, so a beginner spends their effort on thinking rather than on punctuation. That matters at this age. It is also the language they are most likely to meet again โ€” in school computing, in university, and in almost any technical job โ€” so nothing learned here has to be unlearned later.

What comes after this course?

Most students move on to Python Advanced. Having built small programs on their own here, they go on to larger projects, real data, and programs other people can use.
